RANDALL EUGENE CHISM

EASLEY — Randall Eugene Chism, 41, loving husband of 15 years to Tracy Galloway, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at his home.

Born Aug. 20, 1982, in Greenville County, Randall was the son of the late Eugene Chism and Betty McJunkin Allen. Mr. Chism was of the Baptist faith. He was a good man and would do anything to help others. He was a great cook and a master of the grill. He was a great auto mechanic and enjoyed racing RC brushless cars. He loved the Outer Banks and building fires on the beach. Randall loved his family dearly, especially his daughter.

Survivors include his wife, Tracy Galloway of the home; a daughter, Halyn Chism of the home; a brother, Bobby Cannon of Greenville; a sister, Tammy Allen of Greenville; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronnie and Norma Aiken; sister-in-law, Christy Greene (Matt Knight) of Pickens; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Randall was predeceased by a brother, Troy Cannon.

Visitation will be held from 12:30-2 p.m. May 29 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home in Pickens, with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. Phillip McAlister. Burial will follow the service in Graceland Cemetery West, 4814 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611.

Flowers will be accepted.

GEORGE RAYMOND JAMESON

EASLEY — George Raymond Jameson, 74, a man of God and loving husband to Vickie Jameson, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from his earthly home, peacefully with his family by his side.

Born March 6, 1950, in Pickens County, Raymond is the son of the late Cecil Jameson Sr. and Lucy Hendricks Jameson. He was a Clemson University graduate and an avid Clemson Tigers fan. He retired from C.F. Sauer after 43 years of employment. He enjoyed farming, gardening, planting, plowing and time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Jameson of the home; a daughter, Cecilia Jameson Brock (Jon) of Travelers Rest; a son, Daniel McHone (Tonya) of Pickens; grandchildren, Morgan McHone Grant (Justin) and Drew McHone (Hailey); great-grandchildren, Ollie, Lakota, Addy, Winter and Sadie; a sister, Dot Howard; a brother, Doyle Jameson (Diane); mother-in-law, Mae Walker; sister-in-law, Pam Bartley (Rob); brother-in-law, Brice Walker (Beth); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was predeceased by a brother, Charles Cecil Jameson Jr. (Josephine); father-in-law, Herman Walker; brother-in-law, Bud Howard; and brother-in-law, Buddy Walker.

A graveside service was held at Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery, located at 160 Cross Roads Church Road in Easley, on May 25.

In honor of Raymond, flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

VADA PORTER TULAUSKAS

LIBERTY — With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of our beloved Vada Mae Porter Tulauskas, who peacefully passed away on May 25, 2024, at her residence in Liberty.

Born on June 8, 1955, in Anderson, to the late Lou Nelle Stevenson and Fletcher Porter. She was a 1973 graduate of Crescent High School and she worked for more than 30 years at Sauer-Danfoss.

Vada Mae found joy in the simple things in life — whether it was casting a line while fishing for bass, trying her luck at the casino or spending quality time with her family. She had a special place in her heart for animals and dedicated herself to giving back to the community through her support of the Pickens County Humane society and the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.

Vada Mae was a devoted mother to her daughter Sonya Campbell and her son Jim Moss and his wife Amanda. She cherished her time with her siblings, Teresa Malloy, Rose Ellen McDaniel and Charles Porter. She loved spending time with her three grandchildren, Megan Johnston (Mitchell), Cade Moss and Parks Campbell, and two great-grandchildren, Walker and Hollyn Johnston. They were all her pride and joy. She also leaves behind her precious pups, Barney and Moose.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, William Porter.

We invite you to honor Vada Mae’s memory and celebrate her life at the visitation held at Liberty Mortuary on May 30, from 5-7 p.m.

BILL GENE GANTT

PICKENS — Bill Gene Gantt, 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

Born Dec. 25, 1934, in Pickens, Bill was the son of the late William Gantt and Geneva Dodgens Gantt. Mr. Gantt retired from Kent Manufacturing. He was a dedicated member of Cove Creek Baptist Church in Pickens.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Yates (Andy) of Liberty and Carolyn Holcombe of Westminster; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gantt was predeceased by his wife, Doris Rackley Gantt of Pickens; a daughter, Vellie “Sue” Gantt of Pickens; sons, Larry G. Gantt of Pickens, Doyle G. Rackley of Walhalla, Donnie “Pete” Gantt of Grover, N.C., and Bobby Gantt of Pickens; grandfather, Pink Dodgens of Pickens; and grandmother, Malissa Dodgens of Oconee County.

A memorial service was held on May 28 in the sanctuary of Cove Creek Baptist Church in Pickens.

JULIA GILSTRAP

PICKENS — Julia Gilstrap, 96, loving wife of 39 years to Luther Gilstrap, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024.

Mrs. Gilstrap was born on Aug. 14, 1927, to the late Marvin and Ethel Chappell Lesley. She was an active member at Blue Ridge View Church until her health declined. Mrs. Gilstrap enjoyed flowers, bird watching, watching westerns and fishing, where sometimes she outfished Luther.

She is survived by a stepson, Clint Gilstrap; two stepdaughters, Kim Mitchell (Tim) and Karen Edgel (Dan); three grandchildren, Tony Sheppard (Roxanne), Angela Harrison and Gabrielle Whitmire; four step-grandchildren, Holly Evans, Cody Mitchell (Taylor), Miranda Gilstrap and Danielle Ables; and one brother, Charles Lesley.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gilstrap was preceded in death by her son, Tony Sheppard; and six siblings, Jackie Cole, Ola Mae Wooten, Cecil Lasley, Myrte Doss, W.L. Lesley and Mary Lee Hammett.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. May 30 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home.

Visitation will take place prior to the service from 1-1:45 p.m. in the Garden Room.

BETTY L. GILSTRAP

CENTRAL — Ms. Betty L. Gilstrap, 77, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024.

Ms. Gilstrap was born in Easley, on Nov. 19, 1946, to the late Garland and Estelle Bowen Alexander. She enjoyed thrift store shopping, watching westerns and canning vegetables, but above everything else, she enjoyed family dinners and spending time with her precious grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter and two sons, Sherri Helton (Tim), Ronnie Bagwell (Angela) and Chris Bagwell (Marilyn); four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Steve Alexander (Linn) and Diane Smith.

A chapel service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Dillard Funeral Home.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-10:45 a.m.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

Flowers are accepted.

FAYE CHAPPELL HUDSON

PICKENS — Mrs. Faye Chappell Hudson, 91, beloved wife to Tommy “Jack” Hudson, was called up by the Good Lord on Friday, May 24, 2024, as she was surrounded by her loved ones.

Mrs. Hudson was born in Pickens County, on March 27, 1933, to the late Grady Freeman and Sadie Edens Chappell. She was a faithful member of Concord Baptist Church and the Lady’s Sunday school class in Pickens. Mrs. Hudson loved to help out and attend events at the Pickens Senior Center, along with reading and sewing. She was proud to be a homemaker and take care of her family, and later in life she worked in the cafeteria area for the School District of Pickens County for 10 years. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength.

She is survived by two daughters, Diana “Diane” Hudson Bolding (Wesley) and Jennifer “Jenny” Hudson Monday (Ron); four grandchildren, John Wesley Bolding II (Adrianne), Sarah LeeAnn Bolding, Amber Eileene Hudson and Thomas John Hudson; three great-grandchildren, Alayah Camdyn-Ruth Bolding, Avery Quinn Bolding and Grayson John Bolding; a very special fur-grand, Sadie Grace; two brothers, Brackett Chappell and J.R. Chappell; and four sisters, Doris Bryant, Sybil Wade, Lois Granger and Barbara Welborn.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hudson was preceded in death by her beloved son, Travis John Hudson.

A chapel service was held on May 28 at Dillard Funeral Home.

Burial took place following the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to make donations to Concord Baptist Church in Pickens, located at 723 Concord Church Road, Pickens, SC 29671.

ROBERTA JEAN ‘BOBBIE’ GRANT

SIX MILE — Roberta Jean Grant, known to friends and family as Bobbie, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at her home in Six Mile.

Born on Dec. 17, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Trumbower Sr. and Anna Trumbower.

Roberta will be remembered for her love of thrifting and taking care of stray cats.

Mrs. Grant is survived by her loving partner of 29 years, John Roger Cope; daughter, Rebecca Arnold (Matt) of Six Mile; grandchildren, Raven and Ryker Arnold; siblings, Judy Fontana, Deb Van Wie, Eric Trumbower and Sue Fincher; and many loving friends and family.

In addition to her parents, Roberta is deceased by a son, Lloyd Wayne Grant Jr.; and brothers, William Trumbower and Jacob Trumbower Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on May 31, at in the chapel of Mountain View Funerals Home in Pickens.
