DACUSVILLE — An early-morning fire in Dacusville killed two young brothers on Sunday.

The blaze erupted around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, destroying a mobile home at 145 Daisy Drive.

Timothy Lee Graham, 7, and Devon Dewayne Graham, 4, were pronounced dead at the scene, Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley said.

According to Pickens County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Creed Hashe, the children’s mother and 2-year-old brother were transported to the Augusta Burn Center to be treated for injuries sustained in the fire. Their conditions were listed as fair on Monday.

Hashe said preliminary findings indicated that the fire started in the kitchen near the stove.

“Statements from the mother prior to her being transported to the hospital revealed that she was preparing to cook on the stove with grease when the fire started,” Hashe said.

Detectives were unable to determine if the home was equipped with smoke detectors due to the damage, Hashe said.

Autopsies were performed on the children Monday, with results expected back in 6-8 weeks, although Kelley said no surprises were found in initial examination.
