Liberty High School’s wrestling squad recently breezed to a county championship in the Pickens County Duals, earning the county title for the sixth consecutive year. The Devils have now taken first in the county meet in nine of the last 13 years. The team beat Daniel 75-4, Easley 60-16 and Pickens 40-24. David Strickland won a bronze medal for the Devils, while Nikki Weidman, Tristan Oglesby, Dakota Stewart, Nathan Gilstrap and Jimmy Knott earned silver medals. Garrett Whitmire, Mitchell Johnston, Darian Painter, Javy Taylor, Matt Uselman, Tanner Chambers and Dolan Holder all took gold medals in the event. The Liberty squad is led by coach Dale Burrell, who recently got his 200th career win.
