EASLEY — Coming off their best finish since the tournament came to Easley in 2017, the local S.C. District 1 host squad is in contention for another strong finish after going 2-1 over the first four days of tournament play.

The host squad, which won the United States championship last summer, was set to begin its defense on Saturday night before inclement weather pushed the game to Sunday morning.

Despite the change, District 1 was able to begin the tournament with a win, taking down Southwest regional champions Laredo American Little League of Laredo,
