First Friday and Healthy Living Expo set for Clemson Farmers Market

CLEMSON — First Friday at the Market will include additional activities during the Clemson Farmers Market this Friday, Aug. 7, from 3-6 p.m. at Patrick Square, at 578 Issaqueena Trail in Clemson.

The first-ever Healthy Living Expo will run concurrently with the market. Visitors are invited to take advantage of this chance to shop for fresh, locally grown produce, farm[cointent_lockedcontent] products, specialty food items and handmade arts and crafts, plus learn about healthy living opportunities in the community. All Marmet and expo activities are free and open to the public.

In addition to the market’s regular vendors, exhibitors from local groups and organizations whose goals are to promote healthy eating, healthy living, and activities that affect quality of life will be on hand to offer educational information, hands-on activities, and exhibits. Exhibitors scheduled to participate include Backyard Chickens, Hobby Bees, the Green Crescent Trail, Greenville Health System, the Clemson ARTS Center, Little Free Library, City of Clemson Parks and Recreation Department, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), AnMed Health, Issaqueena Pediatric Dentistry, Clemson Area Food Exchange, and the Agriculture Museum of South Carolina.

Here’s what’s happening at the market:

2-3 p.m. — A free Workshop sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) featuring Lois Ryan of Crescent Moon Farms. Learn about the health benefits and versatility of products made from goat›s milk. For more information, call (864) 633-5242.

3-6 p.m. — Clemson Farmers Market Open Healthy Living Expo Open Market and Expo vendors will be offering a variety of education, hands-on and entertaining opportunities.  Fun for everyone. Free giant inflatable for the kids provided by Patrick Square. Free market shopping bags compliments of AgSouth Farm Credit.

3:30-5:30 p.m. ­— A performance by popular local musician Rob Seel. Patrick Square Pavilion Market Partners: City of Clemson, Patrick Square, and the Clemson Area Chamber of Commerce.
