Legacy Square to host Sep. 11 remembrance
PICKENS — September 11, 2001, was a day that will live in infamy, and the USMTM, American Legion Post 11 and the Veterans Service Corps of South Carolina are doing their part to ensure that it is never forgotten.
Legacy Square in Pickens will be the site of a remembrance event this September 11, hosted by Bill Quinton of the Veterans Service Corps of S.C., Junior Shove of the USMTM and Gary Parsons of American Legion Post 11.
The event, scheduled from 3-7 p.m., is open to the public, and will feature vehicle and memorabilia displays from various agencies. Military organization booths will be set up to support and honor veterans as well.
Special parking for WWII veterans will be at the TD Bank parking area.
Hot dog plates will be sold for $4, which includes the hot dog, a bottle of water and potato chips. The proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
