LHS teacher dies in horseback accident

LIBERTY — A Liberty High School teacher within weeks of retirement died after a horseback riding accident in Anderson County last Thursday night.
Pam Scott, 63, was wearing a helmet when the horse she was riding stumbled at Wilson Farms in Anderson. According to Anderson County coroner Greg Shore, Scott hit her head after flipping over the horse and died from a spinal injury later after being airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital
After beginning her career in the School District of Pickens County at Gettys Middle School, Scott was an English teacher at Liberty High School for the last 10 years, according to LHS principal Lori Gwinn.
“Pam touched all of us in many ways,” Gwinn said. “She had made plans to retire at the end of this school year and was looking forward to many adventures. She will be missed dearly.”
Counselors from other district schools and local churches were on hand at Liberty High Friday.
Scott’s death was ruled accidental.
