Local landscaping company starts work at Audubon Acres

EASLEY — Audubon Acres, a new development created by Valhalla Development LLC in Easley, SC, seeks to provide a sustainable community where serenity and natural beauty are part of the amenities.
By preserving many acres in their natural condition, while adding extensive walking trails and native plant landscapes to the common areas, Audubon Acres will serve as a model of stewardship for other communities in the upstate.
The first phase of an extensive landscaping project by Earth Design, Inc. of Pickens will begin at the end of April.
This first phase of the project includes constructing walking trails and common area landscapes that add beauty while attracting desirable wildlife such as songbirds and butterflies.
The following phases will include rain gardens, benches, and educational signage.
Rick Huffman, the owner of Earth Design, is founder and past president of the Native Plant Society of South Carolina.
As a landscape architecture firm, Earth Design is a leading advocate for designing and promoting sustainable communities, restoring and protecting watersheds, and creating thriving natural systems with native plants.
Other projects include lake restoration at Furman University, the master planning for Nalley Brown Nature Park, and numerous projects and residences.
Audubon Acres is on Crestview Road near Couch Lane in Easley, across from Smithfields Country Club.
