Locals will get chance to hear disaster plans

PICKENS — Residents of Pickens County are being given an opportunity to comment in a public hearing format on the county’s completed Hazardous Mitigation Plan which has been approved by FEMA.
The plan identifies both man-made and natural disasters within Pickens County.
A public hearing is scheduled next Tuesday morning, March 27, at 10 a.m. at the Pickens County Emergency Operations Center at 1509 Walhalla Highway in Pickens.
“Our number one focus is and has always been the safety and well-being of all who live and work in Pickens County,” county emergency management deputy director Denise Kwiatek said in a release.

Completion of a Hazard Mitigation plan is a requirement of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 outlined by the Code of Federal Regulations 44CFR Part 201.6 – Local Mitigation Plans.
