Man arrested in wreck that injured deputy

EASLEY — A Pickens County sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized and a North Carolina man charged with DUI after an early-morning wreck Monday near Easley, state troopers said.
Bryan Mitchell Edwards, 27, of Fairview, N.C., was charged with driving under the influence and released on a $3,000 surety bond.
According to S.C. Highway Patrol officials, the wreck happened near Fishtrap Road on Old Easley Highway shortly after 2:30 a.m.
Officials said Edwards was driving a 2010 Toyota Tundra when he crossed the centerline and hit a sheriff’s deputy’s patrol car parked in the median.
The deputy, who was wearing his seatbelt, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Edwards was not hurt and was arrested at the scene, troopers said.
