Man faces 2nd child sex charge

EASLEY — For the second time in just more than a year, an Easley man was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor last week.

According to a release from Pickens County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy Creed Hashe, officers initiated an investigation into an allegation of criminal sexual conduct with a child against Joshua Edward Butcher, 36, of 108 Redfern Court in Easley, in November.

Hashe said investigators determined the activity had occurred over several months, as far back as November 2013.

After a Pickens County magistrate found sufficient probably cause from evidence obtained during the investigation, Butcher was arrested on Feb. 23 and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor, third degree. He was released on a $5,000 surety bond.

Hashe said Butcher was charged with the same offense on Feb. 15, 2014, for an unrelated incident of alleged sexual misconduct. He was released on a $45,000 bond for that incident.

The two cases had different victims, and both were under the age of 16, Hashe said.

According to arrest warrants, the victim in the first case was a male, while the the victim in the second case was a female.

The activity allegedly occurred at Butcher’s home, according to investigators.
