COUNTY — Author Charles Hood has written many books but he says his newest publication “is the first one I’ve done that’s about me.”

“Looking For Space: My Pickens Journey” came out last week.

“I grew up in Pickens but I wasn’t born in Pickens,” Hood said.

The youngest of six kids, he was born in Indiana in 1961.

“My father passed away when I was 10 from cancer,” Hood said.
