Mark Brougham
Easley — Stephen Mark Brougham, 60, of 305 Mulberry Road, husband of Frances Childs Brougham, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
Mark was born in Scotia, N.Y., a son of the late Robert Wayne and Dorothy Dafoe Brougham. He was retired as an ASE Certified Auto Technician having worked for Pickens Tire, Mike Johnson, as well as being self employed.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Frances, of the home, three sons, David A. Brougham (Melissa) of Dacusville, Jonathan M. Brougham of the home and Thomas W. Brougham of Easley and five grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Donna Brougham and Linda Brougham both of California and Marjorie Brougham of Oregon.
Funeral services were conducted 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Charles W. Duncan
Marietta — Mr. Charles Wesley Duncan, 78, husband of Marean Freeman Duncan, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson.
Born in Greenville County, a son of the late Wesley and Lula Holder Duncan, Mr. Duncan retired from Platt Saco Lowell and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of the home, are two sons, Randy Duncan of Greenville and Ricky Duncan (Robin) of Marietta; two grandsons, Drake and Enoch Duncan; and three great-grandchildren, Kylee, Landon and Sara Duncan.
Graveside services were 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Melvin William Carter
Easley — Melvin William Carter, 80, 314 Tuner Hill Rd. husband of the late Dorothy Wynn Carter, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born Nov. 16, 1931 in Darlington, County, he was a son of the late Edward and Hattie Jane O’Neal Carter. Mr. Carter retired from Saco Lowell with over 40 years of service and was a member of Powdersville First Baptist Church.
Mr. Carter is survived by his son, Danny Carter (Rhonda) of Easley; daughter, Julia Carter Stephens of Union; grandsons, Matthew Carter (Rebekah) and Justin Carter.
Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road with the Rev. Brad Atkins officiating. Burial followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
Ralph “Bob” Cash
Andrews, Jr.
Easley — Ralph “Bob” Cash Andrews, Jr. died on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012.
Mr. Andrews was born in Jefferson County, Ga. on Jan. 22, 1921 to the late Ralph Andrews, Sr. and Nena Mae Pinson Andrews. “Bobby,” as he was known to family and friends, graduated from Tech High School in Atlanta. He married Lanore Mae Setzer, his wife of 69 years. Bob served his country during WWII and was wounded when his B17 was shot down over Berlin on April 29, 1944.
He was held by the Germans as a POW until liberated by the British Army on May 2, 1945. After WWII, he entered Georgia Tech and earned a degree in engineering. He and Lanore resided in Easley for over 30 years. They spent the last 2 ½ years together at Emeritus of Greenville. Theirs was a love story for the ages and an example to many.
Mr. Andrews is survived by his wife, Lanore Setzer Andrews; a daughter, Diana Allen and husband Jerry of Winston Salem, N.C.; a son, Steven Andrews and wife Sherry of Chesapeake, Va.; five granddaughters, five great grandchildren (and one on the way); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Andrews was predeceased by a brother, Nat Andrews and a granddaughter Elizabeth Andrews.
Funeral Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville with the Rev. Stephen Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

Liberty — Rosa E. Gilstrap Lindley Fuller, 87, of Liberty, died on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Liberty she was the widow of John Hoyt Fuller and a daughter of the late George and Ada Newell Gilstrap.
Surviving are a daughter, Vivian Rampey of Liberty; two sons and daughters in law, Wayne and Michelle Fuller of Pickens, and Roger and Gail Lindley of Summerville; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Dotridge T. Lindley, a daughter, Glenda Youngblood, and a son, O’Dell Lindley.
Graveside services were conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Westview Cemetery in Liberty.

CW4 Frank Carlton Burrell, (Ret)
Easley — CW4 Frank Carlton Burrell, (Ret), 75, of Easley, husband of Marga Orth Burrell, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 4, 1937 in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Gurley and Ruby Yearwood Burrell. Mr. Burrell was a retired U.S. Army veteran serving 26 years and retired from Wangner Systems with 14 years of service. He loved the outdoors, NASCAR, Formula One Racing and still loved to water ski. Mr. Burrell was a member of Georges Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by his daughter, Tina Quinn (Thomas) of Charlotte; sister, Betty Loftis of Easley; and his extended family living in Germany, the Kohls and the Eisenmanns.
Memorial services were conducted at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road with the Rev. Chuck Traylor officiating.

Inez Simmons
Easley — Inez McWhorter Simmons, 93, formerly of the Griffin Community in Pickens, widow of Thomas Perry “Bud” Simmons, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Mrs. Simmons was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Clarence and Lizzie Anthony McWhorter. In addition to being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was a member of Griffin Baptist Church and attended Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley where she was a member of the Ida Looper Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a son Joel Simmons (Linda) of Easley, daughter Kathy Holcombe (Wayne) of Easley, an adopted daughter, Sandra Owens of Brevard, grandchildren, Stacey Dotson, Gretchen Carpenter, and Jeanna Simmons, Melissa Aiken Thornton, Craig Holcombe, and Jonathan Holcombe, Rita Giblin, Tony Owens, and Amy Lightle, and 18 great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Walter McWhorter (Wilma), Earl McWhorter (Mildred), and Fred McWhorter (Julie), and sisters, Faye Powell (Wallace) and Mary Porter (Sherman) all of Pickens.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by infant daughters, Mary Jo and Della Elizabeth Simmons, brothers, Ray, Joel, J. W., and Hoyt McWhorter and sisters, Rosa Lee and Edith McWhorter.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with Dr. David Gallamore officiating. Burial followed at Griffin Baptist Church Cemetery.

Junior Leroy Edmond
Central — Junior Leroy “Goon” Edmond, 77, of 201 Old Sheriff Road, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at the Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Pickens he was the widow of Sybil Avanell Edmond and a son of the late Arthur and Ella Phillips Edmond. He worked as an auto mechanic for many years.
Surviving are five daughters, Louise Granger of Liberty, Martha Evans and Paula Davis both of Central, Donna Granger of Liberty, and Robin Edmond of Pickens; a son, Jerry Edmond of Central; eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Dyer, and a son, Tommy Edmond.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Cullen C. Collins
Pickens — Cullen Clayton Collins, 89, husband of the late Ophelia Galloway Collins, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Collins was born in Toccoa, Ga., a son of the late Thomas Reynolds and Texie Merck Collins Reynolds. He was retired from The Singer Co. in Pickens and was a Baptist.
Survivors include daughters, Betty McDonald of Pickens and Linda Cater of Easley, eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Collins.

Martha Posey
Liberty — Martha Sarah Roper Posey, 60, of 403 Hillandale Road died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Greenville, she was the wife of Prue Edward Posey of Liberty and a daughter of the late Elbert and Viola Chapman Roper. She was retired from Central Textiles and loved gardening, reading, birds and spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of Open Arms Community Church and also attended Eastside Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Tracy Standridge of Pickens; two sons, Tony Roper of Seneca and Ty Posey of Liberty; two sisters, Frances Hawkins and Judy Patterson both of Liberty; four brothers, Garnet Roper of Easley, Doyle Roper of Greenville, Delma Roper of Liberty and John Roper of Central; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by four sisters; and four brothers.
A memorial service for Mrs. Posey was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Eastside Baptist Church. Dr. Rick Lee and Pastor Jerry Tate officiated the service.

Pickens — Michael “Mike” Gill, 60, of Pickens, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Hampton County, Cincinnati, Ohio, a son of the late Chester and Dorothy Bowmen Gill, Mike was formerly employed as a construction worker and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Carla Gill of the home; a son, Daniel Gill; two daughters, Dianne Nix and Debbie Simmons; five brothers, Joe Gill, Herbert Stockman, Don Stockman, Jerry Gill, and Mickey Gill; four sisters, Martha Bennett, Shirley Banica, Bobbie Crocker and Jeannie Warrix; and five grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Stockman.

Liberty — Gary Richard Smith, 65, of 120 Griffith Drive, died on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at his residence.
Born in LaFayette, Ga. he was a son of Opal Pickle Smith and the late John Wesley Smith. Mr. Smith was an Agency Manager for Modern Woodmen of America for many years, and was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church in Liberty. During his retirement he enjoyed collecting oil lamps. He was a member of Gideon’s International.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Armuchee, Ga., are his wife, Gwendolyn Carter Smith of the home; a daughter, Paige Pittard and her husband Jason of Liberty; a sister, Amy Johnson of Armuchee, Ga.; three grandchildren, Joel, Jacob, and Sarah Pittard.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Smith.

Pickens — David Clarence Morton, 65, of 227 Corn Mill Road, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at the McCall Hospice House.
Born in Pickens he was a son of the late Clarence C. and Alice Powell Morton. He retired from Mayfair Mill and was a member of Porters Chapel United Methodist Church. David was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp where he served his country during the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Holliday Morton of the home; a step son, Richard Grumbles of Greenville; two sisters, Brenda Russo, and Mary Collins; two grandchildren, Ashton Grumbles and Erin Grumbles.

Easley — Eric Nielsen, 63, husband of Charlene Fraley Nielsen, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012.
Born in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Robert and Florence Legg Nielsen. Mr. Nielsen was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and was a United States Coast Guard Veteran.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Stephanie Motes (Jeff) of Williamston and Erica King (Jason) of Easley; and three grandchildren, Macalyn Motes, Maddie King, and Kennedy King.
A service to celebrate Mr. Nielsen’s life was held on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

Norvella “Ann” Tennant
Liberty — Norvella “Ann” Fowler Tennant, 58, died Nov. 9, 2012 at The Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Illinois, she had lived in Liberty since 1988.
She is survived by her only son, Travis Wood and his wife Amanda Wood of Liberty; her two grandchildren, Davis and Connors; a special niece, Tina Bailey; and her family in Nebraska.

Bert Trotter
Pickens — Bertrand William Trotter, 87, husband of Katie Grant Trotter, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
Bert was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Walter and Dora Elizabeth Leslie Trotter. He was retired from Grant Hardwood Lumber Co. in Pickens and was a member of Porter’s Chapel United Methodist Church. At Porter’s Chapel, Bert was a member of the Tommy Chastain Sunday School Class, served on the Administrative Board for many years and served as a choir member. He also helped build the fellowship building in the 1980’s. Bert was a U. S Army veteran of World War II where he was wounded in France and awarded two Purple Hearts for injuries received. He was a private pilot for many years and was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Katie, of the home, daughters, Debbie Ellenburg (Wayne) and Linda Bowie (John) all of Pickens, grandchildren, Anna Davis (Rick), Dirk Ellenburg (Ashley), and Alex Bowie and a great granddaughter, Sydney Elizabeth Davis. Also surviving is a sister, Frances Harrison of Powdersville and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bert was preceded in death by brothers, O. V., Compton, Ocie, and Olin Trotter.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Waldrep officiating. Burial followed at Porter’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Military Honors.

Pickens — Patricia Lesley Raines Ragsdale, 60, wife of Al Ragsdale, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital.
Pat was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Jasper and Sarah Nix Lesley. She was retired from St. Francis Hospital, Downtown as a unit secretary in ICU. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church and also volunteered with Pickens County Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her husband, Al, of the home, sons, Johnny Raines (Marie) and Scott Raines all of Pickens, grandson, Justin Raines, and sisters Sybil Wardlaw (Bobby) of Easley, Cathy Roper (Billy) and Sherry Durham (Randall) all of Pickens.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens with the Rev. Tony Stancil officiating. Burial followed at Blue Ridge View Baptist Church Cemetery.

Easley — Helen Bailey Kelly, 75, of Easley died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at Majesty Health and Rehab.
Mrs. Kelly was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Floyd S. and Lela Mae Reeves Bailey. She was retired from The Glenwood Division of Mayfair Mills in Easley and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Charles T. Kelly of Easley and LeRoy Kelly of Marietta, step daughter, Myra Kelly Bray of Travelers Rest, 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Steven Bailey of Pickens, Sam Bailey and Maynard Bailey both of Marietta, and sisters, Jessie Bentley of Marietta, Sarah Hayden of Slater, and Marie Smith of Pensacola, Fla.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Donald Barker, Randall E. Kelly, and Roger G. Kelley and a brother Leon Bailey.

Don Whitworth
Liberty — Robert Donald “Don” Whitworth, 76, of 107 Belleview Drive, died peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at the Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Atlanta, Ga. he was a son of the late Glover and Drucilla Camp Whitworth. He was the owner and operator of Otasco Store in Pickens for many years and later retired as the manager of Grady’s Great Outdoors in Anderson. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, yard work and gardening, but his true love was his family, and nothing gave him greater pride than watching his grandsons play sports.
Surviving are his wife, Jane Harding Whitworth of the home; a son, Randy Whitworth and his wife, Jan of Liberty; three grandsons, Matt, Zack, and Caleb Whitworth, all of Liberty; three brothers, Virlyn Whitworth of Conyers, Ga., Clyde Whitworth of Athens, Ga., and Lamar Whitworth of Macon, Ga.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Tony Whitworth.
Memorial services to honor the life of Mr. Whitworth will be 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 until 4 p.m.

Johnny T. Stephens
Liberty — Johnny Thomas Stephens, 61, of 441 Five Forks Road, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at his home.
Born in Liberty, he was the son of the late Macon and Lois Virginia Rutledge Stephens. Mr. Stephens was retired as the owner of Stephens Plumbing and was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are his daughters, Amanda Stephens Young (Greg) of Pendleton, Melissa Stephens of Greenville, and Teressa Stephens Ramey (Travis) of Pickens; three grandchildren, Rebekah and Carleigh Ramey, and Kate Young; two step daughters, Wendy Gregory and Courtney Griffin both of Liberty; and two sisters, Beth Willis (L.C.) of Williamston and Phyllis Jewell (Benny) of Liberty.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Walhalla — Vivian Alice Hayes Anderson, age 89, wife of the late B.O. Anderson, died Sunday Nov. 11, 2012 at Cottingham Hospice House, Seneca.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Pickens; the daughter of the late Lillie Mae Keith and James Manley Hayes. She was a member of Griffin Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter Susan Watt (William) of Wallhalla and a sister Elaine Waldrop (Guy) of Pickens.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 at Dillard Funeral Home with Graveside to follow at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Natalie A. Stalter
Pickens — Natalie Ann Jopek Stalter, 68, of 221 Acres Drive, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012.
Born in Dunkirk, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Chester and Genevieve Jopek. Mrs. Stalter was a homemaker and member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pickens.
Surviving are her husband, David Stalter, Sr. of the home; two sons, Paul Stalter and David Stalter, Jr. both of Easley; a daughter, Linda Torres of Easley; and five grandchildren, Erica Stalter, Jamie Stalter, Abigail Torres, Paul A. Stalter, and Jesse Torres.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Jopek.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pickens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of SC, 121 Humane Lane Columbia, SC 29209.
