Elizabeth Campbell
Easley — Elizabeth Lesley Campbell, 85, of Easley, wife of the late James E. Campbell, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Capstone Health & Rehab.
Mrs. Campbell was born in Pickens County, and was a daughter of the late Herbert and Elzora Black Lesley. She retired from J.P. Stevens and was a member of Cornith Baptist Church.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by two daughters, Dianne McCall and Debbie Rogers, two sons, Raymond Bagwell and Jimmy Campbell, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Lucille Satterfield and Pauline Freeman, four brothers, Bascum, Martin, Pete and Bill Lesley.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Thursday, May 10 at Cornith Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ark Hospice, 101 Grace Drive, Easley, SC 29640.

Tommy Dwain Wallace

Millington, Tenn. — Tommy Dwain Wallace of Millington, Tenn. 64 years young, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, following a short illness.
Tommy was a retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief and served multiple tours in Vietnam. He was also retired from South Carolina Law Enforcement having served at Liberty Police Department and Laurens County Sheriff’s Department.
He is survived by his son, Christopher Wallace of Pickens; daughter, Jennifer Wallace of Millington, Tenn.; brothers, Terry and Michael Wallace of Joanna; four grandchildren, Logan, Courtney, Isabel, and Sophia; and grandmother, Dorothy Wallace of League City, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd G. Wallace, Jr. and Lillian Madden Wallace.
Tommy will receive military honor and be laid to rest at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Memphis June 4 at 10 a.m.

Ernestino Zapata
Easley — Ernestino Zapata, 39, of 110 Rock Sound Road, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Colnali Hildago, Mexico, he was a son of Felipe and Chica Vite Zapata. He was a member of Golden Creek Baptist Church and was a supervisor with Kris Mechanical. He loved gardening and animals.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Mexico are his wife, Teresa Ann Evett Zapata of the home; a son, Phillip Cody Zapata of the home; two step daughters, Samantha Kelley (Joshua Watts) of Easley, and Tonia Clark of Spartanburg; two brothers, Beni Zapata of Easley, Ricardo Zapata of Mexico; two sisters both of Mexico; three grandchildren, Tyler Clark, Braylin Clark, and Bryson Watts.
Funeral services to honor the life of Ernestino were 1 p.m. Saturday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial at Liberty Memorial Gardens was private.

Johnny Lee Dyar, Sr.

Central — Johnny Lee Dyar, Sr., 74, of 107 Gordon Drive, died Sunday, May 13, 2012 at his residence.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Lee Ander and Mozelle Gordon Dyar.  Johnny was a retired Assistant to the Dean of the School of Nursing at Clemson.  He was a Vietnam Era veteran and a former member of the U.S. Army reserves.  He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two sons, Johnny Lee Dyar, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, and Bryan (Jodie) Dyar of Piedmont; sister, Linda D. (Bill) Golightly of Mt. Pleasant; a cousin, Blanche T. Jackson; and numerous other first cousins.
 In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Judi Every Dyar.
 The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Thursday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central.
A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday at Old Stone Church Cemetery, Clemson.

Mary Ellen Watson
Liberty — Mary Ellen Porter Watson, 83, of 8 Wilson Avenue, widow of Hubert Watson, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Pickens she was a daughter of the late Ernest Craig and Edna Durham Porter. She retired from J.P. Stevens with 42 years of service and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She loved to cook and take care of her flowers.
Surviving are two sons and daughters in law, Jerry H. and Jean Watson of Liberty, and Tony C. and Angie Watson of Liberty; a sister, Jean Dobson of Pickens; two brothers, L.G. Porter and Bobby Joe Porter both of Easley; three grandchildren, Joshua Watson, Ashley Watson, and Meredith Watson; a great grandson, Zakk Watson; a great-great granddaughter, Sadie Waldrop.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Shane Watson, and a brother, Coy Porter.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Watson were 4 p.m. Friday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Betty Barnwell Patterson
Easley — Mrs. Betty Barnwell Patterson, 77, of 107 Clay St., wife of the late Cecil Carl Patterson, died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at her home.
Born June 25, 1934 in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Lillie Lee Teat Barnwell. Mrs. Patterson retired from Woodside Mills and was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church. She devoted her life to her husband and family.
She is survived by her son, Alan Patterson (Kim); sisters, Sue Entrekin and Shelby Freeman; grandchildren, Dixie Waldrop (Ray), Jason Patterson, and Krista Patterson; great-grandchildren, Cross Patterson, Jadyn Patterson, Elisabella Patterson and Dowlen Waldrop; and granddaughter-in-law Lisa Patterson.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Franklin Barnwell and James Barnwell.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, May 14 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Burial followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

Rosalee P. Chastain
Central — Rosalee Peak Chastain, 90, wife of the late Barney Lee Chastain, died on Tuesday, May 8, 2012.
Mrs. Chastain was born in Central, and was a daughter of the late Solly and Maggie Green Peak. She was a member of East Clemson Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son Ron Chastain and his wife Margaret and one daughter Judy Alexander both of Central.  One grandson Todd Chastain and two great-grandchildren Ashley Grace and Bradon Chastain
Funeral services were Friday May 11 at 2 p.m. at East Clemson Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Mike Cothran and the Rev. Gene Gilliam.  Burial followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Wanda C. Rutz
Liberty — Wanda Christine Kelley Rutz, 78, of 210 Richwood Drive died Tuesday evening at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Mounds, Ill., she was the widow of the late Earl L. Rutz, Jr. and a daughter of the late Eli Frankie and Florence Alfreda Rich Kelley. She was retired from Ryobi after 25 years. She loved doing word puzzles and bird watching and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Karen Granger (Kenneth) of the home; two sons, Don W. Rutz, Sr. (Sharon) and Ricky W. Rutz (LeeAnn) all of Easley; three sisters, Ruth Mosley (Roy) of Pickens, Violet Simmons (Junior) of Pickens and Lois Cedre(Frank) of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Bob Jones of Mounds Ill.; a son in law, Bobby Granger of Easley; a sister in law, Helen Kelley of Arkansas; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Paula Lynn Granger; and a brother Johnny Kelley.

Ruby M. Childress
Easley — Mrs. Ruby McCombs Childress, 94, wife of the late Thomas Lynn Childress, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012.
Born in Pickens County, the daughter of the late Jesse and Marie Hawkins McCombs, Mrs. Childress was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Rock Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Yvonne Simmons and Alice Revis, both of Easley; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Childress was predeceased by a son, Ansel Childress, four brothers and two grandchildren.
Graveside services were 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12 in Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Wayne Garmon and the Rev. Bobby Caldwell officiating.

Rama R. Capps
Easley — Rama Roper Capps, 85, of McAlister Road, wife of the late Loring Dyer Capps, died Friday, May 11, 2012 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Pickens County, the daughter of the late J. Edward and Lillie Abee Roper, Mrs. Capps was a graduate of Easley High School and Draughon’s Business College. She retired as Supervisor of Financial Operations at Baptist Easley Hospital where she also served as Secretary for the Board of Trustees. Mrs. Capps was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church where she was former WMU director.
Surviving are two sons, Kerry Capps (Kathy) of Liberty and Dale Capps of Easley; and three grandchildren, Shosha Capps, Maura Capps and Nicholas Capps.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Capps was predeceased by a brother, Roy E. Roper.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with the Rev. Mark Ford and the Rev. Gerald Roper officiating. Burial followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

Elizabeth Young
Pickens — Elizabeth Riggins “Lib” Young, 68, of 259 Riggins Road died peacefully, Sunday May 13, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Pickens, she was a daughter of Ressie Dodson Riggins of Pickens and the late George Riggins. She loved spending time with her family, cooking and working in her yard. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to her mother are four sons, Harold Young and his wife Missy of Six Mile, Bobby Young and his wife Cathy of Pickens, Barry Young and his wife Donna of Six Mile and Scott Young of Pickens; four sisters, Lucille McCollum, Avanell Hendricks and Catherine Patterson all of Pickens and Sarah Trotter of Pumpkintown; six grandchildren, T.J., Amy and Hunter Young, Catherine Wagner, Kerrie Crowe and April Edwards; three great grandchildren, Logan and Chloe Crowe and Abby Edwards.
In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her husband Tommy Joe Young; and a brother Charles Riggins.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Young were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Sandy Howe
Liberty — Sandra Lee “Sandy” Howe, 52, of 129 Ross Road, died Saturday at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Easley, she was a daughter of the late Odis Samuel and Mary Frances Pilgrim Howe. She was of the Church of God faith.
Surviving are a son, Shaun Howe of Columbia; and a sister, Shirley Edens of Easley.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two sisters, Wanda Hannah and Gail Hughes; and a brother, James Donnie Howe.
Funeral services to honor the life of Ms. Howe will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens.
