The Comfort Cause aids cancer patients

PICKENS — A local nonprofit that serves those battling cancer is celebrating its one-year anniversary this month.

Candice Harper Heatherly is the founder of the Comfort Cause, which provides baskets full of items helpful to those undergoing chemotherapy.

Body found in Liberty

LIBERTY — A death investigation is underway after a body was found in a wooded area of Liberty last week.

The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office and the Pickens County Coroner’s Office are investigating, PCSO Capt. Brett Barwick said in a release issued Saturday.

ANDERSON — A former Clemson University professor was charged with the murder of his wife last week at their home in Anderson.
