Pickens council races head to runoff

COUNTY — Four years after a record-breaking turnout for the 2020 election, Pickens County voters smashed that record once again as they cast ballots to select representatives at the local, state and national levels.

All told, Pickens County had a turnout of 60,606 out of 76,308 registered voters (79.4 percent) breaking the record of 72 percent from 2020.

While voter turnout was at an all-time high, there is still a lot to be decided, with city council elections

Man charged with assaulting Dollar General employee

PICKENS — An Anderson man was arrested Friday after police allege he assaulted a Dollar General employee.

According to a Pickens County Sheriff’s Office release issued Friday, authorities received a 911 call that morning about an assault at the Dollar General at 2505 Walhalla Highway in Pickens.

The release said a man assaulted a store employee and then left the scene

PICKENS — Winners of five straight matches heading Thursday’s first round matchup with Travelers Rest, the Pickens High School volleyball team hoped to keep its momentum going against the Devildogs.

The Blue Flame took the win streak to six as they dominated their region foe 3-0 to advance to the second round of the Class 4A playoffs.

“We’ve worked so hard preparing for playoffs and we’ve been preparing for it since week one,” Pickens head coach Mellie Crumpton said. “Now it’s like it is our time to shine and put it all together and I think this was a good start tonight for us.”

New law punishes inmates for having cellphones in prison

Gray, Kuebler exchange vows at Founders Dairy

Olivia Michele Kuebler and Davis Scott Gray were married Oct. 5, 2024, at the Founders Dairy Barn at the Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill.

The bride is the daughter of Suzanne and Scott Kuebler of Fort Mill. The groom is the son of Bonnie and Scott Gray of Clemson.

Lindsay White officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony.

Abbey Kuebler, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. John Robert Ayers was best man.

The bride and groom are both graduates of Clemson University, where the two fell in love and bonded in their commitment to serve others.

The newlyweds honeymooned in St. Lucia and are excited to begin their lives together. They extend their heartfelt thanks to family, friends and loved ones for their support and love on their special day.
