Lions fall to rival Seneca

EASLEY — A little more than a month after its coaching search began, Easley High School has found the man who will lead its varsity boys’ basketball program in the coming years.

The school announced Derrell Jackson as its new boys’ basketball coach in a press release last week.

Jackson comes to Easley after a 12-year stint at Wren High School in various coaching roles.  Most recently, Jackson has been serving as associate head coach at Wren High School under head coach Fran

Need for speed

Cub Scout Pack 51 held its annual Pinewood Derby on Saturday — in spite of the weather. The rain cleared just in time for the races to get underway. The overall Pack 51 winner was Price Dillard, pictured above with Scoutmaster Perry Gravely. Scouts competed with local first responders from the Pickens Police Department, EMS and Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, and Pickens County Emergency Management. Price’s car also won those races.
