Pickens PD honors K-9 officer with retirement celebration

PICKENS — A member of the Pickens Police Department began a new life Monday afternoon.

The department held a retirement ceremony in front of Pickens City Hall for K-9 officer Xenia.

A Belgian Malinois, Xenia joined the department in 2017, when she was 15 months old.

Tornadoes leave county with excess mulch

COUNTY — The two tornadoes that hit Pickens County last month left behind a lot of debris, and disposing of that debris has resulted in an opportunity for residents doing yard work.
