SCDOT set to give downtown Six Mile new look after July paving

SIX MILE — Main Street Six Mile will soon have a new look, as South Carolina Department of Transportation officials offered three different versions of how the wide 
street could be laid out during a special meeting held at Six Mile Town Hall on May 22.
Brandon E. Wilson, P.E., the District 3 engineering administrator from SCDOT’s Greenville office, presented conceptual drawings to the public during the informational meeting. Drawings of proposed layout repaving ideas for the street were on display, and local residents had the opportunity to provide suggestions for how the road could look in the future.

Pickens gives annexation OK

PICKENS — Pickens City Council voted last week to approve the first reading of an 
annexation request, but council members stressed that the vote was the first step in a process that is far from over.
The issue of whether to annex 215 acres at the north side of Wolf Creek School Road and Mauldin Lake Road has been a contentious one for the city in recent months. A town hall meeting in April drew a large crowd to discuss the planned development, with the majority of the speakers that night urging council to vote the annexation down.

Solicitor announces retirement

COUNTY — The longest-serving solicitor of the 13th Judicial Circuit is set to retire.
Walt Wilkins announced his decision to retire on May 29 in a release “to the citizens of Greenville and Pickens counties,” the two counties that comprise the 13th Circuit.

SDPC announces pay increases for all staff
PICKENS — The School District of Pickens County (SDPC) Board of Trustees approved a $187.2 million balanced operating budget for the 2025–26 fiscal year, which includes

Born in Greenville County, the daughter of the late Lewie Oscar Few and the late Fay Day Few, Mrs. Mullinnix was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and Draughon’s Business College. She was the office manager for Long Trailer and Body for 42 years and was a member of St. Andrew Methodist Church.
