Pickens voters to have say on Sunday alcohol

PICKENS — Voters in Pickens will decide whether to approve Sunday alcohol sales in the city.

During their meeting Monday, Pickens City Council members voted to place a Sunday alcohol sales referendum on the ballot in November.

First reading was held in July. At that meeting, Mayor David Owens said the city had had several requests to allow Sunday alcohol sales.

Concerns raised about Christian group home’s move to county

SUNSET — Residents of Sunset heard last week from a woman who said she wanted to warn them of abuse allegations against a Christian ministry and group home that is planning to move into their area.
