Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda is coming to Pickens First Baptist Church

PICKENS – The Watoto Children’s Choir is from Uganda, Africa travels the world each year to share how Christ has changed their lives. PICKENS — Area churches came together Monday to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Griffin Ebenezer Baptist Church in Pickens hosted the Community Prayer Breakfast Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday morning.

Pickens Presbyterian Church Elder Bill Ranson served as emcee. He said the community prayer breakfast has been held for 19 years, and he’s been able to attend all but one of them.

Legislators urged to pass hate crime bill

Florida man hit, killed in Dacusville

DACUSVILLE — A Florida man died last week after being hit by a vehicle in Dacusville.

Pickens County Coroner Andrew Wilson identified the victim as Erik Jon Falle, 46, of Ormond Beach, Fla.

Cooper speaks on PC airport’s impact, needs

COUNTY — Members of the Pickens County Legislative Delegation received an update last week on the economic impact the state’s airports deliver.

Former Pickens County Airport director Skeets Cooper represents District 3 on the South Carolina Aeronautics Commission and spoke at the delegation’s annual meeting on Jan. 13 in Pickens.

VA officer, supporter ask delegation for changes

COUNTY — The county’s interim Veterans Affairs officer asked members of the Pickens County Legislative Delegation to consider implementing changes that would allow his office to handle its caseload.

Walt Carter addressed the delegation during its annual meeting held in Pickens County Council chambers on Jan. 13.
