PICKENS — Bank of America customers in Pickens will soon be faced with a decision: travel to another city to visit the bank or choose an entirely new institution altogether.
The Bank of America branch located at 334 East Main Street in Pickens will officially close its doors on February 22.
Nicole Nastacie, director of communications for Bank of America, said that customers who bank with the Pickens branch were mailed letters in November so they would have ample time prior to the February closing to get acquainted with the Easley branch, Pickens’ nearest BoA location.
While customers may have concerns about the Bank of America closing its Pickens branch, Nastacie says the decision was based on a decrease in bank traffic. Closing the office has nothing to do with the financial health of the bank,” she said.
This decision is driven primarily by a decline in transactions, as customers increasingly rely on other channels, including mobile and online banking,” said Nastacie.
More and more people today rely on technology to help them with their banking needs, and this has had a significant impact on the number of transactions that actually take place in banking centers.
What will happen to the employees currently working at the Bank of America branch in Pickens?
Nastacie said that any time a banking center closes, Bank of America provides various forms of assistance to impacted employees, including helping them find other opportunities within the company.
“Employees will be relocated to a nearby banking center,” she said.
Current Bank of America customers will be able to continue their banking at the Pickens branch unhindered until February 22. Questions can be asked in person or by calling (864) 878-2411.
The closest BoA branch to Pickens is located at 6091 Calhoun Memorial Highway in Easley, and the telephone number for that branch is (864) 855-8336.
