Pickens council OKs change to business license ordinance

PICKENS — Pickens City Council members passed an ordinance on Monday that would eliminate declining business license rates for businesses in the city that gross more than $1 million in sales.

The ordinance originally included language that would also increase license fees for smaller businesses inside the city by as much as 10 percent. But during the meeting, council member Donna Owen asked that the ordinance be amended to take the increase for smaller businesses out, while maintaining the elimination of the declining rates on larger grossing businesses,
