Pickens County cities plan July 4 festivals

COUNTY — Pickens County will be celebrating Independence Day with a variety of events beginning Saturday and continuing through the evening of July 4 next Tuesday.

Six Mile — July 1

Six Mile’s Independence Day festival is scheduled for Saturday at Ponderosa Park. The free community event will be held from 5-9 p.m.

The festival features a full slate of events, including music and entertainment.

Kids’ inflatables will be available from 5-8:30 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., those in attendance will be able to enjoy a children’s bicycle parade.

A firetruck water fountain will be available from 6-8:30 p.m.

Hot dog plates will be for sale from 6-8 p.m., and popcorn, lemonade and cotton candy will also be available.

At 6 p.m., a three-legged race will be held, followed by a potato sack race at 7 p.m.

An eating contest will be held at 8 p.m., and fireworks are set to begin at 9 p.m. or dark.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs.

Clemson — July 3

The Clemson Area Chamber of Commerce will present Clemsonfest on Monday at Clemson University Campus Beach.

The family-friendly festivities will begin at 5 p.m. and include food, vendors, live music and a kids’ play area. The event’s biggest fireworks display ever is set to begin at 9:30 p.m.

Admission is $5 for those on foot, or $10 per car.

Pets, personal coolers and swimming are prohibited.

Easley— July 4

The city of Easley’s annual 4th of July Festival will be held from 3-11 p.m. Tuesday at Old Market Square and promises foods, games, live music and fireworks.

The festival will also feature carnival rides from 3-9 p.m.

The Easley Police Department will be offering “Blue Light BBQ” beginning at 3 p.m.

An illusionist show will be held at 5:30 p.m.

Split Shot will perform from 8-11 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.

The festival is sponsored by Hendrick Honda.

Liberty — July 4

The 2017 Love My Liberty festival will be held from 6 p.m.- dark at the old Liberty High School Stadium on Tuesday. The festival will feature live music from the Carolina Highway Band, the Emma KAPP Children’s Bike Parade, free hot dogs and giveaways.

A corn hole tournament is also being planned.

Fireworks are set to begin at 9:30 p.m.

Pickens — July 4

On Tuesday July 4​th​ the City of Pickens will host a celebration of Independence Day at the Uptown Amphitheater in Pickens which is located at 114 W. Main Street, Pickens, SC 29671

The fun starts at 7 PM when the ​Jake Bartley Band​ takes the stage at the ​Uptown Amphitheater in Pickens​. The Jake Bartley Band is one of the most highly sought after and hardest working bands in the Carolinas. They deliver a unique and progressive blend of rock, country, soul, jazz and blues. Pig on Firewill be selling some great BBQ.

At 10 PM the skies above Pickens will light up with ​fireworks​. The City of Pickens has worked really hard this year to make sure this will be an impressive and exciting display.

The City of Pickens hopes that everyone can join us for this family friendly evening of entertainment. Please note that this year there will be no rides. Come out and support live music in Pickens.
