Plans taking shape for new detention center

Drawings, other details to be unveiled at Feb. 24 groundbreaking ceremony

A 2006 expansion of the Pickens County Detention Center failed to accommodate the growth in the prison’s population, according to Sheriff Rick Clark. A groundbreaking ceremony is planned this month for a new facility, estimated at $25 million.
