Police search for suspect in Six Mile store robbery

SIX MILE — Pickens County sheriff’s deputies are on the lookout for a man who robbed the Dollar General store in Six Mile last week.
According to an incident report, deputies responded to the store just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, in reference to an armed robbery. When arriving on scene, officers spoke to two visibly upset store employees, who detailed the robbery.
One employee said she was at the front register of the store just before 10 p.m. when a black male entered the store with a silver semi-automatic handgun and told her to get her co-worker.
At that time, the employee said, the man made the two clerks take money from the register and place it in a black bag that he provided. The suspect then made the clerks take him to the office, where he demanded that the two women remove more money and place it in the bag. The suspect then locked the employees in the office before fleeing the scene.
According to the employees, the man was approximately six feet tall, wearing a long-sleeved shirt with black sleeves and a red front. He wore white tennis shoes and a black beanie on his head. One employee said the suspect wore what appeared to be a black T-shirt over his face and gloves.
After watching video footage, officers said it appeared the man ran toward Main Street after leaving the store.
One of the women told deputies that a suspicious black male had been in the store about three minutes before the start of the crime. According to the clerk, the man had been inside the store acting suspiciously before buying tissue paper and left prior to getting his change or receipt.
The other employee told officers that the store had received a few phone calls earlier in the evening from a phone number that hung up several times before calling back and asking what time the store closed.
Officers collected a DVD of the store’s surveillance video.
Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office at (864) 898-5500.
