School board OKs new start, dismissal times

EASLEY — A plan two years in the making was finally given unanimous approval by the Pickens County School Board on Monday night, imposing new start and dismissal times for middle and high school students starting in the 2020-21 school year.

Assistant superintendent for secondary education Josh Young said middle and high schools, except for Dacusville Middle School, will run on a daily schedule of 8:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m. Young said the reason for the change was to separate bus routes for elementary and secondary students for safety purposes.
