Spring Fling 5K run and bike event set in downtown Easley
EASLEY — Organizers are inviting everyone to come out to the annual Spring Fling 5K Run and Bike event, set to be held on Saturday, April 9.
The event starts in the heart of downtown Easley in conjunction with the city’s annual Spring Fling festival. The festival will feature local vendors from Easley and surrounding areas.
Special events will include a metric century or a half metric ride for those who enjoy cycling. There will also be a 5K for those who prefer to run or walk. There will even be an Easter Egg Fun Run for children.
The ongoing vision of the Easley community is to provide an atmosphere of healthier living through education and increased physical activity. The Spring Fling is a partnership between the city of Easley, the Easley Downtown Business Association and the Pickens County YMCA.
Tiffany Martin, Senior Wellness Director at the Pickens County YMCA, puts the run and bike event together.
“Every year the event just gets better and better,” Martin said. “It is such a great opportunity for people to come together and get active. We want more people to be able to take part in this, so this year the events are even more affordable.”
“This event is for people at any fitness level,” Martin said. “The 5K is a great event for those who seek to compete and those that are just beginning to get physically active. The half metric and metric bike rides are perfect for people training for large races. We also get children as young as 2 years old involved with the fun run.”
The annual Spring Fling Run and Bike is presented by Suntrust. The city of Easley, Baptist Easley Hospital, The Greenville News, Sitters Registry, Bo Mahaffey Nationwide and Walmart are some of the sponsors for the run and bike event.
Registration is going on now. Proceeds benefit the Pickens County YMCA Share the Spirit Fund. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For information on the bike and run events and vendor/sponsorship opportunities visit www.pcymca.net.
