Wendy’s opens in Pickens

PICKENS — The world’s newest Wendy’s is now open in Pickens.
Clemson-based First Sun Management Corporation (FSMX), a 51-unit franchisee of Wendy’s company, opened a brand new Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers restaurant earlier this week in Pickens. The new restaurant is located on Ann Street.
“We’re excited to be in Pickens,” said chief executive officer Joe Turner. “We’re looking forward to serving lots of Dave’s Hot ‘N’ Juicy cheeseburgers.”
The new restaurant has created approximately 30 new jobs for the community and will continue the development along U.S. 178 on the north side of town.
First Sun Management operates Wendy’s franchises in North and South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. It has twice been selected as one of the Wendy’s system’s top franchisees. In addition, Turner is a member of the Wendy’s Hall of Fame.
The first Wendy’s opened in Columbus, Ohio, in 1967. Founder Dave Thomas believed there was opportunity in the quick-service restaurant industry for a concept that would serve fresh, never frozen beef and custom-make every hamburger as it was ordered. Thomas named the restaurant after his daughter Wendy, who today is a Wendy’s franchisee in Ohio.
