Pickens County students were able to enjoy a four-day weekend as winter weather moved through the area at the end of last week, cancelling classes on Friday and Monday. Although some parts of the county received up to 8 inches of snow and ice, there were no major problems, and Duke Energy and Blue Ridge Electric Co-op were able to restore power to all who lost it by Sunday.
