Cannon partners with Library System for National Healthcare Decisions Day
PICKENS — Cannon Memorial Hospital along with the Pickens County Library System and other national, state and community organizations, are leading a massive effort to highlight the importance of advance healthcare decision-making — an effort that culminated in the formal designation of April 16 as National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD).
As a participating organization, Cannon Hospital is providing information and tools for the public to talk about their wishes with family, friends and healthcare providers, and execute written advance directives (healthcare power of attorney and living will) in accordance with South Carolina state laws.
Daniel’s Monroe signs
Daniel High School senior basketball star Jennifer Monroe signed a letter of intent last week to continue her career at Anderson University. Monroe, twice an all-state selection for the Lions, said that former Daniel coach Jody Powell inspired her to strive for the next level. “(Powell) started it off and really gave me the dream to play in college,” Monroe said. Under first-year head coach Cosandar Griffin, Monroe helped lead the Lions to a 23-2 record and a Western AAA title this season. “She’s been a leader and a role model to all the players, and she’s overall just a great player,” Griffin said of Monroe, who earned a spot in this year’s North-South All-Star Game. Christopher David Logan
Greenville — Christopher David Logan, 30, husband of Lori Redding Logan, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
Born in Pickens, he was a son of Donna Jean Davis Ballard. Mr. Logan was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are two brothers, Derrick Logan and Seth Ballard; and grandparents, Donald and Emma Jean Davis and loving family.
The funeral service was at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17 in the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.
