Hurst will be responsible for managing a team of commercial bankers to expand TD’s market share by extending the bank’s brand of legendary service to both its customers and the community.

Hurst, who has more than 10 years of experience in the financial industry, began his career in 2005 with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. In 2006, he joined RBC Centura, which was later acquired by PNC Bank. He most recently served as market president for PNC Bank’s Greenville market.

Clemson Extension expanding and adapting to state’s needs

CLEMSON — Clemson University Extension will hire specialists across the state and expand programming to better meet the needs of South Carolina’s residents and economy in a five-year strategic plan approved by university leaders.

Cannon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary tournament planned for this Saturday

PICKENS — Cannon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will hold its annual golf tournament at Bear Valley Golf Course on Saturday, Aug. 1.

The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The captain’s choice format is $75 per player or $300 per team. The playing field will max at 100 players.

Humane Society to host golf tourney

COUNTY — The Pickens County Humane Society will be having a golf tournament on Saturday, August 1.

The event will feature a shotgun start at 10 a.m. There will be a $50 entry fee per person and a maximum of a four-person team.

The entry fee will include 18 holes of golf, cart and lunch. Mulligans and red tees will also be offered for $5 each, and there will be closest to the pin and longest drive contests.

Gospel Lighthouse plans first ‘Kids for Christ Rally’

LIBERTY — Gospel Lighthouse Prison Evangelism will be holding its first “Kids for Christ Rally” for ages 3 to 13 on Aug. 8 at Rice’s Creek Baptist Church in Liberty.

This is a day of fun and excitement for churches’ children’s departments, daycares, group homes, children and grandchildren.

Cannon to give school supplies out August 8

PICKENS — Cannon Memorial Hospital employees will hand out elementary school supplies on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (or while supplies last) in the front lobby of the hospital.

Supplies will include paper, composition book, folder, glue, pencils and a 24 pack of crayons.

Parents will also be able to get their blood pressure checked and get information regarding programs and services that Cannon offers to the community.

 

Dalton family reunion planned for August 9

SIX MILE — The descendants of Lewis Rector Dalton and Janie Bowen Dalton will gather to share family memories, stories and news.

This year’s reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 9, at 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Mile Creek Baptist Church, at Lakeside Drive and S.C. Highway 133 in Six Mile.

Family members are asked to bring lunch and tea or soft drinks to share. Silverware and paper products will be provided.

Friends of the Dalton family are also welcome.
