County Council voices speedway support following rally in Easley

EASLEY — Rain causes cancellation of NASCAR races, but the wet weather didn’t stop about 300 fans from attending a rally to save the historic Greenville-Pickens Speedway.

The fans and a few politicians gathered inside a cavernous building at Easley’s District Park on April 4 to show their support for reviving NASCAR’s second oldest racetrack.

Dept. of Labor recovers $95k for IHOP cooks

COLUMBIA — An Easley IHOP location is one of three franchise locations that failed to pay overtime to cooks, according to the US Department of Labor.

A release from that agency issued April 2 said it recovered $95,095 in back wages for 33 cooks at three IHOP locations in both North and South Carolina that failed to pay overtime, as required by federal law.

Signature Foods USA to open new plant in Easley

EASLEY — A specialty food products manufacturer will invest $11.5 million and create more than 200 jobs in the Anderson County portion of Easley.

Easley Chamber expands to Liberty

EASLEY — The Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated its first major expansion in nearly 20 years.
