No upsets in primary elections

PICKENS — Pickens County residents joined voters from around the Palmetto State in 
taking to the polls on Tuesday for statewide primary elections, and all local incumbents on the ballot survived their party challenges.
Voter turnout was relatively strong countywide, with 26 percent of Pickens County’s voters heading to the polls, compared to 16.2 percent who cast ballots in the 2022 midterm primary election.

Man sentenced for meth trafficking

LIBERTY — A Liberty man died following a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning.
Pickens County Coroner Andrew Wilson identified the victim as 24-year-old Logan Anders.
The collision occurred at 3:55 a.m. Saturday on U.S. Highway 178 at the intersection of North Freeman Road, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper Joseph Rowell.

Monument dedicated to General Andrew Pickens in Legacy Square

PICKENS — A vital part of the area’s history was remembered and celebrated Saturday morning.
The General Andrew Pickens and Revolutionary War Patriots Monument was officially dedicated.
Joyce Hansel, regent of the Fort Prince George Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, served as emcee for the ceremony, held at the monument’s base in Pickens’ Legacy Square.

Six charged in Pickens drug bust

Pickens High School Class of 1959 plans 67th reunion
EASLEY — Members of the Pickens High School Class of 1959 are preparing to celebrate an impressive milestone as they gather for their 67th class reunion on June 20, at 5 p.m.
This year’s reunion will be held at Silver Bay Seafood Restaurant, located at 7027 Calhoun Memorial Highway in Easley.
A private dining room has been reserved for the group, and classmates are welcome to bring a guest. While Silver Bay is known for its seafood, the menu offers a variety of options to accommodate all tastes. Attendees will receive separate checks.
