Pickens Chamber July Business of the Month

Pickens Bargain Exchange Flea Market has been named the Greater Pickens Chamber of Commerce’s July Business of the Month. A longtime community landmark, the market owned by brothers Trey and Bryan Boggs has grown into the area’s largest outdoor flea market, welcoming shoppers every Wednesday for more than 30 years. Pickens Bargain Exchange Flea Market is located just west of Pickens on S.C. Highway 183.

Clemson freezes in-state tuition for 7th straight year

CLEMSON — Clemson University’s Board of Trustees has approved a seventh consecutive tuition freeze for in-state undergraduate students, continuing a policy university officials say is aimed at keeping higher education affordable for South Carolina families.

The board approved the tuition plan during its recent meeting, leaving in-state undergraduate tuition unchanged for the 2026-27 academic year.

Woman dies in detention center custody

COUNTY — A woman being held at the Pickens County Detention Center died while in custody June 30.

On July 1, Pickens County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Brett Barwick issued a release about the inmate’s death.
