DOROTHY MARTHA ‘DOT’ BATES

MONROE, N.C. — Dorothy “Dot” Martha Bates, 95, of Monroe, N.C., died Saturday, May 9, 2026, at her home.

Born in Pickens as a daughter of the late Clive and Anniebelle Henderson Bates, she was a graduate of Pickens High School and Draughon Business College. She retired with more than 40 years of service as an executive secretary at Blue Ridge Electric Co-op. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Easley, before moving to Monroe, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe, N.C.

Surviving are one sister, Frances B. Vaughan of Monroe, N.C.; a nephew, Ray E. Vaughan Jr. (Sheri) of Troutdale,

EASLEY – Easley baseball stayed alive Monday night in the District I-5A Division 2 playoffs with a 7-2 win over region foe Greenville.

Easley (17-12) will now travel back to Nation Ford in an elimination game Wednesday with that winner traveling to Indian Land Friday, needing two wins to advance to nextweek’s Upper State best-of-three series.

Daniel girls advance to round 3

CENTRAL — After a dominant first round victory on Tuesday, the Daniel High School girls soccer team returned to field on Friday night for round two of the Class 4A playoffs against Emerald.

It was a beautiful day last Saturday as the Pickens High School Class of 1976 hosted its 50th class reunion at the Hagood Mill Pavilion in Pickens on May 9.
