Civil rights photo exhibit now at Hampton Library

Parkinson’s Society adds Woschkolup to board of directors

EASLEY — Upstate Parkinson’s Society (UPS) has announced that Kathleen V. Woschkolup, M.D., has accepted a position on its board of directors as medical director and vice chair.

Woschkolup is a Greenville neurologist specializing in movement disorders like Parkinson’s disease. She is highly respected and renowned for her patient dedication, according to a news release. Woschkolup is a member of the Mercy Bon Secours health system. She graduated from Universidad De Guadalajara (UAG), Mexico, and fulfilled her residency at Medical University of South Carolina. Elected officials plan town hall in Pickens

PICKENS — Local elected officials will face questions from the public at a town hall meeting focusing on the Pickens area early next month.

Set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, the meeting will be held at the Pickens Senior Center at 129 School House St. in Pickens.

State House Rep. Davey Hiott will answer questions, along with State Sen. Rex Rice. Trustee Shannon Haskett will field questions related to the Pickens County School Board, while Pickens Mayor Fletcher Perry will provide insight into city matters and Pickens County Councilman Alex Saitta will answer

Clemson freshman found dead at store

CLEMSON — The Pickens County Coroner’s Office said Friday the person found dead at a Clemson convenience store earlier in the week was an 18-year-old Clemson University student.

Deputy coroner Heather Harrison said Joseph McPartland, of Roswell, Ga., had been living in a university dorm early in his freshman year.

Clemson police officers responded to a 7-Eleven on Old Greenville Highway at 2:29 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, after receiving a report of an unconscious person inside, Chief Jorge Campos said last week.

Officers attempted to give lifesaving aid to McPartland, but were unable to revive him.

Harrison said Friday the incident remains under investigation, with Clemson police detectives helping the coroner’s office.

Woman dies days after crash

NORRIS — A Sumter woman died Sunday, several days after suffering injuries in a wreck in Pickens County.

Pickens County deputy coroner Heather Harrison identified the victim as Tracey Harvin, 59.

The single-vehicle accident occurred at 10:24 p.m. Friday at Garrett Drive and North Norris Drive in Norris, Harrison said.

Harvin, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died of her injuries Sunday afternoon at Greenville Memorial Hospital, according to Harrison.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.

Rock & Roll with Pack 51

Cub Scout Pack 51 members pose for a photo on a recent visit to the Bob Campbell Geology Museum in Clemson. Following the museum, the Pack participated in a mini-golf tournament at the Oasis Ranch in Seneca. Pack 51 meets on Monday nights at the Troop 51 Scout Hut in Pickens, and youth between the ages of 5-10 are eligible to join. Music tour coming to Easley Shuckin’ Shack

EASLEY — Shuckin’ Shack recently announced the an 18-stop music tour with popular Nashville musicians and local artists.
