• Veterans invited to American Legion

Veterans in the Liberty area are invited to the next meeting of American Legion Post 67 in Liberty. The Legion meets on the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Scout Hut off North Palmetto Street. All vets invited.

• Sertoma Club invites locals to meet

The Clemson Sertoma Club invites all local residents to attend its meetings. The club meets at noon the first and third Tuesdays of each month at Occasions at Wedgefield, located at 1551 Eighteen Mile Road in Central. New visitors are always welcome.

Man rams barrier at nuclear station

CENTRAL — An Arkansas man faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, after incidents at the Oconee Nuclear Station last week led to a manhunt and his arrest in Pickens County.

Officials excited about SC 183 grant

Project Linus gives blankets to kids in need

COUNTY — A group that provides blankets to children in stressful situations has recently expanded into Pickens County.

Project Linus was created after a mother saw that a blanket given to her sick child made her feel better.

DAR’s National Day of Service

As part of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) National Day of Service, Fort Prince George Easley Chapter members took student school supplies and staff thank you baskets to Lakes and Bridges Charter School, Liberty Primary School and Pickens Elementary School. Each school received baked goodies and health bars, along with educational supplies. “Our chapter loves to surprise the schools,” said community classroom committee chair Darlene Levy, who organized the event. Double murder suspect caught

EASLEY — A man wanted in connection with the killings of two people in Mauldin last week was arrested over the weekend in Easley.

According to a release from the Mauldin Police Department, officers received a call at 6:34 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, for a welfare check at a home on Ashby Park Lane.

After arriving at the scene, officers found two people dead inside the home.

The next day, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office ruled both deaths as homicides,
