PICKENS — With rumors sparking throughout the community about AnMed Health making plans to change its operations in Pickens County, including 
potentially shuttering Cannon Hospital, a company spokeswoman threw water on the flames Tuesday.

SLED charges ex-detention officer

PICKENS — A former Pickens County Detention Center officer faces multiple charges after an investigation into allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with an inmate.

Clemson police investigate gas station death
CLEMSON — Clemson police detectives are helping the Pickens County Coroner’s Office with a death investigation after an unconscious person was found at a 
gas station.
Clemson Police Chief Jorge Campos sent out a news release saying officers responded to a 7-Eleven on Old Greenville Highway at approximately 2:29 p.m. Monday for a report of an unconscious person in the store.
Officers attempted to give lifesaving aid to the person, but were unable to revive them.
No other information was available at press time Tuesday.
Easley woman dies from wreck injuries

EASLEY — An Easley woman died Saturday from injuries she suffered in a wreck last month.
Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley identified the victim as Kathie Lindsey, 72, of Innis Brook Drive.
The three-vehicle collision occurred Tuesday, Aug. 30, on S.C. Highway 8 near Tinsley Drive, two miles south of Easley, according to South Carolina Highway

District honors top teacher, support staffer
COUNTY — The School District of Pickens County honored its 2022-23 Teacher of the Year and Support Employee of the Year at a banquet on Monday night.
At the banquet, which celebrated the support employees and teachers of the year for each of the district’s schools and other departments, McKissick Academy 
of Science and Technology (MAST) second-grade teacher McKenzie Martin was named the district Teacher of the Year, while West End Elementary School secretary and bookkeeper Jackie Burrell won honors as the district’s Support Employee of the Year.
