Tri-County Tech freezes tuition for third straight year
PENDLETON — The Tri-County Technical College Commission has decided to freeze tuition for the third year in a row.
The commissioners unanimously approved the tuition freeze at a meeting Monday.

Daniel sweeps Pickens County meet
LIBERTY — For the second consecutive season, Daniel High School boys’ and girls’ teams swept the Pickens County Track Championship.
In the boys’ events, the Lions were led by a standout day from Jaylen Brown-Wallace. Brown-Wallace finished first in both the long and triple jumps and took third in the high jump to earn boys’ field MVP honors.
Brown-Wallace wasn’t the only multi-event winner for the Daniel boys, with Jeffery Davis winning both the 100 and 200 meter dashes alongside the 4×400 meter relay. Gabe Smith and James Taylor

I remember the day we brought Teddy, our English bulldog puppy, into our home. The breeder told us he was eight weeks old, but after receiving his papers, we noticed he was actually only six weeks old at the time.

Ron Barnett, congratulations on your award from the South Carolina Press Association for your excellent article “The hand of God,” concerning the C-119 Flying Boxcar aircraft that crashed in Liberty on February 1960 with no major damage and no injuries.

JANICE RUTH SKELTON
EASLEY — Mrs. Janice Ruth Skelton, 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 28, 2022.
Mrs. Skelton was born in Greenville County and was the daughter of the late Lewis Rochester and Louvenia Medlin Rochester and wife for 62 years to her handsome man, Lawrence “Lonnie” Skelton.
Mrs. Skelton loved her Lord and her family. She wanted nothing more than to be with her grandchildren and spend time with family. That was her greatest joy. She did not meet a stranger. She loved making friends, and people loved her beautiful smile. She enjoyed dancing. She was employed for a total of 38 years with Cornell Dubilier and was most often sought after for her knowledge of the job. She had many talents, including advising her husband Lonnie what to do. Mrs. Skelton was loved by all and will be missed dearly by her family.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Danny Skelton (Kim) of Purcell, Okla.; a daughter, Rhonda Burton (Mark) of Easley; and six loving grandchildren, Daniel Skelton (Nancy) of Simpsonville, Autumn Sosebee (Chris) of Travelers Rest, Joshua Starnes (Shea) of Norman, Okla., Cody McClain of Pickens, Ryan Burton of Easley

PHS Scholar-Athletes
On Friday, March 25, Pickens High senior Garrett Beaty and sophomore Sarah Cooper were named the school’s Scholar-Athletes of the Week. Beaty is the son of Randy and Michelle Beaty and was nominated by Tina Hudgens and coach Brittany Kelley as a result of his dedication to the PRIME students and Unified programs at PHS. Beaty is a member of the PHS golf team. Cooper is the daughter of Allen and Susan Cooper and is a member of the varsity soccer team. Sarah was nominated by Lorna Williams, who said she “… exemplifies all that a Blue Flame should.”

• Legion to host flag retirement April 16
The American Legion Post 52 in Easley will be performing a flag retirement ceremony at 11 a.m. on April 16. The ceremony will be at the Pope Field Recreation field in Easley.
