Waiting to pour out His glory

Last week, we talked about the recent revival in Wilmore, Ky. Anytime there are 1,500 people in one place worshipping God around the clock, we know the Lord is stirring hearts.

We had a trip to Denver planned last week, but I was able to attend the revival three different times before we left, and it was very humbling to see a hunger for God on this level. We sang “I Exalt Thee,” and you could sense God was there.

WALT PAINTER

SUNSET — Walt Painter, 67, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023.

Mr. Painter served in the U.S. Army Special Forces Green Berets, was a sergeant in communications, a member of the Golden Knights and cross-trained. He was awarded the Iran Iranian Airborne Paratrooper Jump Wings.

Walt is survived by five children, David, Stacy, Brandon, Kim and Rhonda; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren

Roper gets extension, big raise

PICKENS — Pickens County administrator Ken Roper now has a more long-term deal to stay in his position after several years on an annual contract.

County council voted 5-1 last week to extend his contract through December 2026, effective as of Feb. 7. As a result, Roper’s annual salary is now $194,397, up from $176,724.

Based on the contract, if council finds at its December review the administrator “has provided services as anticipated by council,” Roper will receive a salary increase of 10 percent effective Jan. 1, 2024. The 10 percent increase would push his
