COLUMBIA — After a great day at the Class 2A-1A Upper State championship last week, the Liberty Red Devils wrestling team had high expectations for the state championship meet at Dreher High School on Saturday.

They more than met those expectations in Columbia, bringing two state champions and two other top-three finishers home from the competition.

Pickens club volleyball teams host free clinic for area players

LIBERTY — Pickens High School kicked off softball season with a bang over the weekend, going 3-1 and winning the Red Devil Varsity Invitational with a 5-3 win over homestanding Liberty.

65th anniversary

The Rev. William Edwards Harris and Mildred Syphronia Guthrie Harris celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Jan. 28. Rev. Harris is a retired minister with the Church of God of Prophecy. Mrs. Harris is a retired inspector with WestPoint Stevens. Rev. Harris served in the U.S. Army, as did the couple’s two sons and two daughters. The couple’s eldest daughter is the elected Veterans Administration officer for Pickens County. The Harrises have six children and many grand and great-grandchildren.

The Health Extension for Diabetes program is a free diabetes self-management and support group. Hank Williams Museum open at Market at the Mill

The Market at the Mill in Pickens held a formal grand opening of its newest attraction, the Hank Williams Museum, last Saturday. The new museum will take you back in time as you enjoy lots of country music legend Hank Williams memorabilia. If you’ve never tried the great variety of Asian dishes now easily available, I encourage you to do so.

Whether it’s Thai, Korean, Japanese or Chinese, there’s something special about each of these.

If you make them yourself, you can be sure they’re free of preservatives and additives that aren’t particularly good for you.

So maybe it’s time to get out of your comfort zone and try one of the offerings this week. I hope you enjoy one or all   .
