I want to respond to the hundreds of letters written by Pickens County School Board member Alex Saitta attacking teachers, public education and the School District of Pickens County.

In just his last letter published in the Pickens County Courier, Saitta is trying to convince the good people of Pickens County

Although lives have been lost on the treacherous yet awe-inspiring Half-Mile Falls of the Thompson River, Pickens County Courier contributor Dr. Tom Cloer and his friends and family have escaped major peril in a series of mishaps in the area over the years. • Music on the Market on Friday in Easley

The City of Easley has planned the Gilstrap Family Dealerships’ Music on the Market on Friday nights in May and June. The events will take place from 7-10 p.m. in Old Market Square in Downtown Easley. On May 29, Hot as a Pepper is scheduled to perform. June 5 will feature Fortunate Sons, while on June 12 Alex Christie and Family and Whitten City News will be in town

Wood earns Eagle Scout

Potter’s Clay Fellowship Church was the site of an Eagle court of honor for Jeremiah Wood. This is the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America and only four percent of scouts ever achieve it. He was accompanied by his two Eagle Scout brothers, John Wood and Josiah Wood. Jeremiah is a member of Troop 37 sponsored by the First Baptist Church with scoutmaster Bryan Dickard. Jeremiah is a freshman at Liberty University in Lynchburg Va. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Scott Wood of Easley.

Easley High German students attain national recognition

EASLEY — German language students from Easley High School attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2015 National German Examinations.

Two dozen students earned a total of four silver and four bronze medals, along with 16 honorable mentions.
