Let’s keep the spirit of Christmas
Dear Editor,
Christmas is upon us. A time of the year when all can be like family, no matter the race, religion or non.
Seems people this time of the year are more forgiving than at others. Well, not all, of course, for the spirit of Scrooge is still alive and well.

EASLEY — Benny Hanson, 70, loving husband of 51 years to Shirley Hanson, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 3, 2022, at his home.
A native of Transylvania County, N.C., Benny was born on Feb. 22, 1952, the son of the late Arthur and Edna Hanson. Mr. Hanson enjoyed fishing and loved to spend time at the lake. Crews lifts Easley in win over Lions
CENTRAL — In a battle of two new-look squads, the Daniel Lions held the advantage through nearly three quarters as they boasted an eight-point lead over county rival Easley with less than 40 seconds left in the third quarter on Thursday night.

PICKENS — Taking a 21-6 lead in the first quarter, the Pickens High School boys’ basketball team looked ready to take another step forward in year four under head coach Jeff Harrelson against the Belton Honea-Path Bears on Nov. 29.

PES unveils Hope Garden
PICKENS — Pickens Elementary recently unveiled the Memorial Hope Garden in remembrance of two students who passed away in recent years.
Funded with $50,000 from the Lowe’s Hometowns program the school received in July 2022, Pickens Elementary is now able to provide an outdoor learning environment for students and teachers alike.
